Free Bar Graph Maker

A bar graph maker turns a list of categories and numbers into a bar chart, so you can compare values at a glance. Paste your poll or survey results below to create a labeled, sortable bar graph and download it as SVG or PNG, free and without signing up.

Step 1

Paste your data

One bar per line: category, then value. Separate them with a comma, a tab (paste straight from a spreadsheet), or a semicolon. An optional first header row names your axes. Up to 100 rows; negatives and decimals work. Quote names that contain commas.

Read 6 rows (comma-separated, header "Feature" / "Votes").

How to make a bar graph

    1. Step 1

      Paste your data

Paste categories and values, one per line, separated by a comma, tab, or semicolon. Add an optional header row.

    2. Step 2

      Label the chart

Add a chart title and category and value axis labels so readers know what the bars measure.

    3. Step 3

      Customize the bars

Choose vertical or horizontal bars, sort largest first, smallest first, or keep your order, toggle value labels, and pick an accessible color.

    4. Step 4

      Download or share

Download the bar graph as SVG or high-resolution PNG, export the data as CSV, or copy a text summary.

Tips for clear poll and survey bar charts

    • Sort unordered answers. For poll options or feature votes, sort largest first so the winner is obvious. Keep the original order for scales like Very dissatisfied to Very satisfied.
    • Start at zero. Bar length encodes the value, so a truncated axis exaggerates differences. This tool always includes zero.
    • Say what the number is. Use a value axis label such as Votes, Respondents, or Percent of responses, and put the question in the title.
    • One color is enough. A single accessible color keeps attention on the comparison. Highlight with sorting and labels instead of a rainbow.

    Bar graph maker questions

How do I make a bar graph from my data?

Paste one category and value per line, such as Dark mode, 412, or copy two columns from a spreadsheet. The bar graph appears instantly. Add a title and axis labels, choose sorting, orientation, and color, then download it as SVG or PNG.

What data format does the bar graph maker accept?

Two columns per line: a category name and a number, separated by a comma, tab, or semicolon. A header row is optional and becomes the axis labels. Numbers can include thousands separators, decimals, a minus sign, a percent sign, or a currency symbol. Quote names that contain commas.

Can a bar graph show negative numbers?

Yes. Negative values extend below or to the left of a dark zero baseline, so changes, net scores, and gains versus losses read correctly. The axis always includes zero, which keeps bar lengths honest.

Should I use a vertical or horizontal bar graph?

Use vertical bars for a few categories with short names, or for ordered groups like months. Use horizontal bars when category names are long, when you have many categories, or on mobile, because every label stays readable.

    Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. The bar graph maker runs entirely in your browser. Your data, the chart, and the SVG, PNG, and CSV downloads are created locally and never sent to a server. No account is needed.

Collect the votes before you chart them

FeatureVote gives you a public board where customers suggest ideas and vote on them, so your next feature poll keeps running on its own and the results are always ready to share.
