Free Kano Analysis Template Generator

A Kano analysis template compares customer reactions when a feature is present and absent, then groups each need into a category you can use for product prioritization. Enter response distributions below and export a clean table for your next roadmap discussion.

Build your analysis

Use the five standard Kano answers. Counts can come from one feature survey or a segment you are comparing.

1

Prioritization guide

Use the categories as a conversation starter. Must-be features protect trust, one-dimensional features reward better performance, and attractive features can create delight.

M - Must-be

A basic expectation: missing it creates dissatisfaction.

O - One-dimensional

More is better: satisfaction rises as the feature improves.

A - Attractive

A pleasant surprise that increases satisfaction when present.

I - Indifferent

Customers are largely neutral about this feature.

R - Reverse

The feature may frustrate this audience when it is present.

Q - Questionable

The response pairing is inconsistent or needs a data-quality check.

How to use a Kano model template

  1. 1. Add features.

Use one row for each need or product capability you want to compare.

  2. 2. Enter both distributions.

Count the five answer choices for the feature-present and feature-absent questions.

  3. 3. Review confidence.

Low mode confidence means the responses are split and the category needs more research.

  4. 4. Export and discuss.

Copy the table or download CSV, then validate the highest-impact needs with your target customers.

Kano analysis FAQ

What is a Kano analysis template?

A Kano analysis template compares how customers react when a feature is present and when it is absent. It groups each feature into categories such as must-be, attractive, one-dimensional, indifferent, reverse, or questionable so teams can prioritize discovery work.

What do the functional and dysfunctional questions mean?

The functional question asks how a customer feels if the feature is present. The dysfunctional question asks how they feel if it is absent. Use the same five response choices for both questions.

How many responses do I need for a Kano model?

There is no universal cutoff, but a balanced sample across your target segments makes classifications more trustworthy. This tool reports the response count and mode confidence so you can spot weak classifications before making a roadmap decision.

What does an attractive feature mean?

An attractive feature creates delight when present but does not cause strong dissatisfaction when absent. It can differentiate a product, while must-be features protect basic satisfaction.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The analysis runs in your browser. Your draft is stored only in this browser's local storage, and the CSV or text export is generated locally.
